Frederick 360 visits the Great Frederick Fair to take a look at some local fall festivals from around the county. We'll showcase the agriculture, the livestock, the history and the food.
First up, we take a look at the history of some of the local community shows, and talk to some of the people who help put them together. History Professor Rusty Monhollon also gives us an in depth look at the antiquity of these agriculture and community fairs.
With the advent of fall festivals, many folks flock to Frederick County to visit. We'll look at the "then and now" of a few fall festivals, which include Catoctin Colorfest, Trolley Days, and In The Street.
We'll also see how yard sales became such a staple of the fall festival season, and talk with Middletown resident Cindy Glagola about how she enjoys organizing her yearly yard sale.
The food stays a large part of every fair, and the Great Frederick Fair food is no exception. We visit Hemps for some BBQ beef, Trinity UCC for some apple dumplings, and Zion Lutheran Church for some kettle cooked apple butter.
Rounding out the show, we ask a few Frederick Fair patrons about what part of the fair remains their favorite throughout the years.
