Lord Nickens, 95, served as president of the Frederick chapter of
the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People from
1972 to 1994 and was one of the first Frederick residents to join the
Army in 1940 under the Selective Service act. He shook hands with
Martin Luther King Jr., received a plaque from Rosa Parks and has a
long history of community activism which he discusses in an interview
on this week’s Frederick 360.
The show also visits a drumming circle where participants are using
music as a way to overcome stress. Also featured is a martial arts
master who recently visited Frederick.
City bus driver Isaac Wilkes not only tells people to have a nice
day, he knows how to have a nice day himself and is willing to share
with viewers his thoughts.
The business focus is on The Frederick News-Post and it’s 125th
anniversary this week.
