Beautiful and historic All Saints Episcopal Church is the setting for this week’s episode of Hello Frederick. Interesting details about All Saints—the oldest Episcopal Church in western Maryland—are sprinkled through the show, which begins with a look at what’s fun and family-friendly in Frederick with Family Zone segment host, Val Atmonavage. Hello Frederick’s resident landscaper, Tim Pieklo of Acer Landscaping, gives us a lesson on pruning flowering bushes and trees. The History Minute introduces us to one of our town’s famous citizens of old, John Hanson, Man about Fredericktown. ?In our Look What’s Cooking segment this week, Chef Christine Van Bloem welcomes a new sponsor: The Chef’s Outlet. Open to the public, The Chef’s Outlet offers restaurant quality food at OUTLET prices. Every other week, Christine—with the help of store manager and banquet chef, Dave White-- will select an item from The Chef’s Outlet, and show you a recipe using that item. This week, the duo visits the Wall of Spice for some Jerk Seasoning , and chooses a 24-pack of individually frozen, restaurant-quality chicken breasts. The result? Delicious and crowd-pleasing Jerk Chicken! HealthWatch takes a look at an outreach program for children sponsored by of our local Mental Health Association. “Kids on the Block” are a group of life-size puppets who resemble real children. It’s goal is to provide “emotional education” to children through entertainment. Next, Hello Frederick calls on Cheryl Wright of Homewood for some more insight on how baby boomers are defining retirement in new and different ways, and concludes with a segment from Autumn Hollis on living a greener life by throwing away less, starting with a toothbrush handle with replaceable heads!
